After, the police arrive and Elizabeth is arrested, and John decides that he no more stand by and not act. In act III, it shows that Proctor and other people decide to counteract the court. Also, Francis nurse and Giles Corey de nounce the trials that have been taking place in court and are arrested. Proctor admits that he had adultery with Abigail just no one believed it.

Abigail, by thinking that Mary is direct her spirit invade her, brings Mary who has been supporting Proctor to throw in her affidavit and also accuses him to protect herself. After, Proctor is arrested and Hale quit the court. The final exam act is mostly about Proctor which dialog about whether he should live or accept death. He signs a confession, but when he realizes that it will be utilize against his fellow also accused, he breaks it.
